About Beverly Hills, CA

Beverly Hills is a renowned city located in Los Angeles County, California, occupying 5.7 square miles in the heart of Southern California. Completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles and bordering West Hollywood.
Beverly Hills is internationally recognized for its lush landscapes, near-perfect climate, and exceptional amenities, making it a premier destination for both residents and millions of visitors each year. The city is celebrated for its outstanding public services, including top-tier police and fire departments, award-winning schools, and extensive recreational opportunities.
The history of Beverly Hills traces back to the Tongva people, the region’s original inhabitants, and later to the Mexican-era Rancho Rodeo de las Aguas, established in the early 19th century. The city began as an agricultural community but transformed after a group of investors, having failed to find oil but discovering water, decided to develop the land into a residential area.
Beverly Hills was incorporated as a city in 1914, and its reputation soared in the 1920s when Hollywood celebrities like Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks built their estates there, sparking a trend that drew many in the film industry to the area15. The construction of the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1912 and the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in 1928 further cemented the city’s glamorous image.
Beverly Hills is perhaps best known for its “Golden Triangle,” the downtown retail and dining district anchored by Rodeo Drive, which features luxury boutiques and high-end shopping experiences.
Other notable areas include the “flats,” a residential zone south of Sunset Boulevard, and Trousdale Estates, a prestigious neighborhood developed in the mid-20th century and home to the historic Greystone Mansion. The city’s landscape is marked by tree-lined streets, manicured parks, and iconic landmarks such as the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Electric Fountain.
Culturally, Beverly Hills has been immortalized in American popular culture through films, television series, and media, including “The Beverly Hillbillies,” “Beverly Hills Cop,” and “Beverly Hills 90210”. Its association with celebrity, luxury, and exclusivity continues to attract global attention.
Despite its opulent reputation, Beverly Hills maintains a diverse residential community. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of approximately 34,000, with a mix of owner-occupied and rental housing, and a median household income of $86,141. However, the Los Angeles area has numerous millionaires and billionaires, many of whom live in Beverly Hills and could utilize our Beverly Hills Wealth Management services.
Today, Beverly Hills remains a symbol of glamour and affluence, offering world-class shopping, dining, and cultural experiences while preserving its unique historical heritage and community spirit.

Spadena House
The Spadena House, more famously known as “The Witch’s House,” is one of Beverly Hills’ most whimsical and beloved tourist attractions. Located at the corner of Walden Drive and Carmelita Avenue, this storybook cottage looks as if it was lifted straight from the pages of a fairy tale, often drawing comparisons to the house from “Hansel and Gretel”. Its sharply sloped, lopsided roof, tiny windows, and distressed stucco exterior—paired with a garden of twisted plants and once-surrounding moat—create an enchanting, almost otherworldly atmosphere that delights visitors and photographers alike.
Originally built in 1921 by Hollywood art director Harry Oliver, the Spadena House was first used as offices and dressing rooms for Irvin Willat’s silent film studio in Culver City. In 1926, the entire structure was moved to its current Beverly Hills location, where it became a private residence. The Spadena family, its first residents, gave the house its official name, but its whimsical design quickly earned it the enduring nickname “The Witch’s House”. Over the years, the home has undergone thoughtful renovations to preserve its unique character, most notably by Michael Libow, a local realtor who purchased and restored the property in the late 1990s to prevent its demolition.
The house is now a protected local landmark (Beverly Hills Landmark Number 8), celebrated for its role in the city’s architectural history and its frequent appearances in popular culture, including a cameo in the film “Clueless”. While the Spadena House remains a private residence and is not open for interior tours, it is a favorite stop on walking and sightseeing tours of Beverly Hills. Visitors are welcome to admire and photograph the house from the sidewalk, making it a must-see for architecture enthusiasts, fairy tale fans, and anyone seeking a touch of magic in the heart of Beverly Hills.
